Out Dicks Philip K. Dick
15 January 2016 | by AlanParis28 (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews
I read a review online that said this film "Out dicks Philip K Dick" so that made me curious! I saw this film in Utopiales Sci-Fi Festival in France and it blew me away. It explores how we adopt multiple identities - online, at work, at home and in our lives - and looks at what happens when we're confronted with ourselves. It looks amazing - set in a visually beautiful world with brilliant actors. And watch out for great cameos from Nick Blood (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Tony Way (High Rise) It's a film for sci-fi fans but also for anyone interested in how we live today and relationships. Unlike anything I've seen in a while. If you're a fan of Seconds, Under the Skin or The Double, go see

Surprisingly moody and atmospheric
15 January 2016 | by Christian Holler (Germany) – See all my reviews
I saw Die Dunkle Seite des Mondes at the premiere in Berlin and was positively surprised! The story about a successful lawyer whose life spins out of control and races towards a showdown delivers a great atmosphere. Especially the camera-work is amazing delivering very atmospheric and moody shots of nature and the forest which is an integral part of the story. The director really has a great eye for setting up a mood. Also the actors do a real great job. Moritz Bleibtreu is exceptionally good at portraying the different mental states of his character and how he slowly loses his control. Very well done.
The movie strays quite a bit from the book but it would probably not have been possible to put everything from the book into a 90 minute film. If you can accept the movie as more of a focused and condensed version of the book you may find it quite entertaining.
Especially loved the end which leaves a lot of room for interpretation.

Kingsley's Talents Are Wasted Here
6 May 2013 | by gavin6942 (United States) – See all my reviews
A terrorist (Ben Kingsley) plants several bombs throughout the city of Colombo, Sri Lanka and threatens to detonate them unless prisoners are released.
Writing a review for this film without revealing the end is a bit hard to do, but I will try. There are many things about this production that can be said...
First of all, this is a remake of an Indian film called "A Wednesday". I have not seen it, but if the reviews are any indication, the original is vastly superior (and probably worth my seeking out).
Second, Kingsley is completely wasted here. He is one of the great actors of our times, and is vastly underrated for some reason. He gets cast in movies that are forgettable, like this one and "The Wackness". Even when he shines (which is almost always), it is hard to appreciate the talent when he is surrounded by rubbish.
Lastly, the people who made this did not seem to grasp English. When Kingsley speaks, it sounds pretty okay. But when others speak, they talk in a nonsense style sometimes, repeat themselves a lot... it just never makes sense. This is the film's biggest weakness -- do not try to make a film in English if you cannot speak the language. I would much rather watch a Sri Lankan film with subtitles if it would sound more natural...
